What is Brainspotting?
Processing through mind and body connection
Brainspotting applies therapeutic attunement between client and practitioner, where the practitioner holds witness to the client’s processing by locating and paying mindful attention to brainspots (eye positions where an emotion and related body sensation feels either stronger or easier).
Guiding Values
An approach rooted in holistic processing
- "Where you look, affects how you feel."
- Processing emotions through the mind and body connection with focused mindfulness and somatic (body) awareness
- Taps into the innate healing capacities of the client
- Therapist is highly attuned to the client, as the client processes their experiences, while minimally verbally intervening in the process
- Applying a resourcing approach for clients with trauma experinces
"So much of what we experience doesn't reach conscious awareness, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. That doesn't mean it isn't affecting."
- David Grand, Founder of Brainspotting
